As rapid product innovations are scaled, the processes that have been developed are supplemented with technology solutions. This enables the efficiency of scale, but should not do so at the expense of ongoing experimentation. The most innovative firms continue to experiment and optimize at scale. The enabling technology systems must be able to adapt to the ongoing optimization of the people and processes they are meant to supplement. By building systems that are reliable with ongoing adaptation and optimization in mind, organizations can remove one of the largest barriers to experimentation and maximize the competitive advantage of the underlying innovation.
